In honor of the 400th anniversary of the birth of Barbara Strozzi, Salon Sanctuary Concerts draws from the only sacred volume from her prolific compositional output, I Sacri Musicali Affetti. Commissioned by a female patron and featuring motets dedicated mostly to female saints, SSC close their New York season with this performance of daringly expressive and formally inventive pieces by one of the baroque era’s greatest composers.​
