This event is the fourth in a series taking place at Casa Italiana this year as part of the literary festival Le Conversazioni that focuses on films that the speakers believe worthy of being [re]discovered. Antonio Monda and his guest each choose three films to present and discuss (accompanied by clips). Previous guests were film critic Stuart Klawans (December 8), and authors Leslie Jamison (February 2) and Judith Thurman (March 1).

The selected films are:
“The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp” (1943) by Emeric Pressburger, Michael Powell
“Idi i smote” [Come and See] (1985) by Elem Klimov
“Un condamné à mort s’est échappé” [A Man Escaped] (1956) by Robert Bresson
“E la nave va” [The Ship Sails On] (1983) by Federico Fellini
“Tengoku to jigoku” [High and Low] (1963) by Akira Kurosawa
“Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid” (1973) by Sam Peckinpah

Easter Egg:
“Duck Soup” (1933) by Leo McCarey
