Overview

Please note: This workshop takes place at Mouse Ceramic Studio (1012 Beverley Rd. Brooklyn, NY) and is only open to a limited number of Casa Italiana Members. Please make sure to reserve.

A one day hands-on workshop on the ancient art of pottery and vessel making in clay as practiced by ancient Greek and Etruscan craftsmen. The workshop with be conducted by master ceramicist Pedro Ramirez and will include a demonstration of the use of the pottery wheel and instruction in hand building a cup using coils of clay – the most ancient form of vessel making. Also demonstrated will be the application of glazes to fired work. The cups made by participants will be fired, glazed and available for pick up within two weeks. Ceramic sculptor Richard Laurenzi will demonstrate how ancient artist-craftsmen used molds to reproduce objects in numbers.

Casual Clothing is suggested: Aprons will be supplied.
